Whipple to Begin $1 million Renovation of Dudley District Courthouse
WORCESTER, MA, June 1, 2005

     Whipple Construction will begin renovation and alteration work at Dudley District Court June 1. The project is expected to last eight months.

     The work will involve renovation of the roof and air conditioning systems and the provision of handicapped accessibility to the building. In addition, the entire parking lot is to be rebuilt, providing extra spaces and accessibility.

     Repairs to this overcrowded building have been neglected over the years, and the demand for parking spaces has grown significantly.

     Because the work of the court must continue uninterrupted throughout the project, the schedule has been carefully phased. The entire roof will be removed and replaced while daily court operations continue. Noise levels will be kept to a minimum when the court is in session, and the more disruptive work will be performed outside of normal court hours.

     “This is a particularly challenging project,” said company president and treasurer Rodney A. White, “but it is exactly the kind of challenge Whipple relishes.”
