R.L. Whipple Updates Corporate Identity
WORCESTER, MA, June 1, 2005
The R.L. Whipple Company, a Worcester construction company founded in 1909, announced today the updating of its corporate identity, including brand name, logo, Web site and printed materials.
The company’s new brand name is Whipple Construction. Its Web site address is whipple-construction.com.
Company president and treasurer Rodney A. White said the change will not surprise many in the industry. “It's what everyone called us anyway,” he said.
White said that the change, which has been under development the past few months, was prompted by the company’s approaching centennial. “Not many construction companies are around for a century,” he said. “We wanted to use the moment to look backward to our traditions and forward to our future.”
The company was founded by Robert Lee Whipple, an engineer and soldier. Whipple's son, William, became company president in 1956. He was succeeded by long-time employees Chris Baehrecke in 1981 and White in 1995.
Whipple Construction has worked on many high-profile projects in Worcester, including the 111 Chophouse, The Sole Proprietor, the Korean War Memorial and the restorations of Mechanics Hall and Tuckerman Hall.
