Working on behalf of the religious community has always been a very special niche market for Whipple. We have built and rebuilt many sacred spaces and claim this as one of our most important contributions to the character of our community.

First Unitarian Church
The First Unitarian Church has been an anchor to the north Main Street section of the city since the late 18th Century. A client of the Whipple Company for more than fifty years, the church has employed Whipple in nearly every construction capacity. This project included exploratory services, budget preparation, design development, cost versus funding analysis, pre-procurement, scheduling and coordination with the municipality, adjustment service and insurance. Working on the exterior of the façade and steeple presented numerous safety and personnel management challenges. Public safety was critical, as the church chapel remained in operation throughout. The ornate details of the work required the highest quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The First Unitarian Church values our service and commitment to them and we take great pride in our ability to maintain this prominent private-sector client.
St. Joseph Memorial Chapel – Stained Glass Window Stabilization
Dedicated in 1924, Saint Joseph Chapel continues to be the vibrant center of spiritual life on this Jesuit college campus. The Whipple team was called upon to stabilize and restore the chapel’s stained glass windows. The project entailed repairing and re-leading the stain glass panels; stabilizing the windows; abating any asbestos and lead paint; and, installing new storm panels that were custom-built by artisans in England to the chapel’s exterior so as to protect against further deterioration.
