O’Kane Building

Exterior restoration, Fenwick / O’Kane Building

The project was phased over several years to accommodate the school session, minimize safety concerns and avoid activity when large groups of prospective students were touring the campus. The project called for repairs to and replacement of large portions of the existing slate roofs. Much of the exterior wood trim was also replaced. This involved the accurate reproduction of 100-year-old wood moldings, trim and turnings. The masonry façade of the Fenwick building’s front-facing tower was restored with the clock face and works added.

St. Joseph Memorial Chapel – Stained Glass Window Stabilization

Dedicated in 1924, Saint Joseph Chapel continues to be the vibrant center of spiritual life on this Jesuit college campus. The Whipple team was called upon to stabilize and restore the chapel’s stained glass windows. The project entailed repairing and re-leading the stain glass panels; stabilizing the windows; abating any asbestos and lead paint; and, installing new storm panels that were custom-built by artisans in England to the chapel’s exterior so as to protect against further deterioration.
