Client: Korean War Memorial Committee of Central Mass, Inc.

Project: The Korean War Memorial

Description: This was a much-coveted project that brought together the community as well as private and public interests. Prices were evaluated constantly to save money. We self-performed a good deal of the work and provided supervision to the Shriver Job Corps students, who dedicated their training and experience to this project to produce a beautiful, solemn spot. The many subcontractors and a team of volunteers required deft management skills to bring this long overdue memorial to reality.

Client: Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra
Worcester, MA

Project: Tuckerman Hall

Description:Tuckerman Hall is one of Worcester’s jewels, a unique triangular building with two beautiful assembly spaces and several intimate meeting rooms. Built originally as Worcester's Womens' Club it is now the home of the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra. Many different floor levels made handicapped accessibility an unusual challenge. Restoring its exterior windows called for the expertise with historical structures for which Whipple is known. The Hall's fine acoustics required industrial glazing of existing wood sash to minimize noise from outside traffic. All the interior finishes, fine woodwork and ornamental plaster were refurbished as part of the Hall's initial restoration.

Client: Mechanics Hall
Worcester, MA

Project: Historic Restoration and additional work

Description: This beautiful 19th century hall has been under the care of the Whipple Construction for nearly thirty years. World-renowned for its brilliant acoustical qualities, it is one of the most sought-after venues in North America for recording artists and has played host for countless stage performances, presidential visits and even funerals of some of the more notable members of the community. Whipple Construction’s work has been a true partnership with the Mechanics Association in the areas of design, budget, value-engineering, scheduling and the management of construction funds. The relationship between the Association and the Whipple Construction has developed so fully due largely to the firm commitment made to the client and also by the client understanding the value in continuing with an honest, experienced and capable manager.
