Client: The Hanover Insurance Group
Worcester, MA

Project:Corporate Headquarters: Cafeteria, C Store, and Rest Room Renovation

Description:For more than 150 years, Hanover has been responding to the needs of their customers with world-class service and innovation. When the company wanted to renovate its 11,000 square foot cafeteria and sundries store without closing operations, we responded in kind by overcoming challenging logistical demands. The Whipple project team executed a phased-approach to allow partial use of the cafeteria and store during renovation. We also upgraded a conference room and renovated two toilet rooms during this time. Despite the project being adjacent to important employee offices, the project was executed with minimal distraction to the Hanover professionals.

Client: Wyman-Gordon Company
Worcester, MA

Project: Miscellaneous Plant and Office Alterations

Description: The Wyman-Gordon Company has been a client of ours for nearly 65 years. Whipple has been retained in numerous capacities, including general contractor, construction manager, design engineer and maintenance contractor. Projects include replacing interior office finishes, building new concrete machine bases, erecting new buildings and designing and building various structural components. Safety is a major priority for Wyman-Gordon, not only regarding the employees of the company but also the contractors working for them. Whipple initiated site-specific safety policies for individual projects and effectively eliminated injuries to workers and the associated costs of down time. Schedule was also key. In the small-margin world of manufacturing, the old saying “time is money” resonates loud and clear. Whipple routinely created critical path schedules to coincide with the owners’ need for turnover. Factoring in the numerous activities of the contract as well as the ongoing operations of the facility, Whipple managed the time efficiently and always provided on-time deliveries. Budget was also a prime consideration. With the limited budgets available today, adherence to budget is critical to the long-term success of any contractor-owner relationship, and Whipple understands this clearly. Managing the funds of the owner so they are spent in the most efficient and judicious manner has helped Whipple enjoy the benefit of this long-term relationship.
