A Tradition of Trust. A Pledge of Value.
In the competitive and volatile field of construction, Whipple’s longevity is a testament to the company’s core values of honesty, competency and trust. As we approach our second century in business we honor and continue our traditions while looking to the future.
Robert Lee Whipple was an engineer and soldier who founded the R.L. Whipple Company in 1909. The "Colonel" was an impressive and respected figure, a man of quiet confidence who brought to his work the discipline and attention to detail he learned as a soldier-engineer. The Whipple name soon became synonymous with quality and value, and the building projects taken on by the company grew in size and complexity.
Whipple's son, William, became company president in 1956. He was succeeded by long-time employees Chris Baehrecke in 1981 and Rodney White in 1995. Whipple, its succession stable and sure, has continued to hire talented engineers and managers.
The true history of Whipple is written in our buildings, the places in which people have lived, worked, played, learned and worshipped for the past century, and in which they continue to do so. Our project portfolio includes schools and colleges, churches and temples, fire stations and hospitals, factories and offices, restaurants, theaters, golf clubs, public memorials and numerous other facilities.
